Draw, Create, Win: James Foley Wants to Visit Your School!

At StoryBox, we love seeing our resources in action in your classrooms! We’re also passionate about connecting your students with our incredible authors, illustrators and storytellers whose works are featured in our library. That’s why we created Story Tools, our fun, engaging writing series with 36 video lessons and activities on the art of story craft, presented by some of Australia’s best-loved children’s creators.
In Term One, 2025, we’re running an AMAZING competition with one of our favourite creators – James Foley, author and illustrator of Stellarphant, Happy Barry, Capybara, and Brobot. Join James and StoryBox, and help kickstart your kids creativity!
If you’re a StoryBox subscriber or trialer, you’ll have access to a special Story Tools Series 3 lesson: From Sketch to Finished Art, presented by James Foley and Anna McGregor. Watch the video lesson with your class and explore James’s book, Stellarphant on the Hub. Then, download the worksheet to run the competition activity.
Send us your kids’ creations, and TWO winners will be selected to receive a school visit from James Foley himself! James will run his brilliant, funny and engaging writing workshop with your kids, PLUS the winning schools will receive a one-year premium subscription upgrade to StoryBox Hub, which includes over 550 story reads, and all 36 Story Tools lessons.
If you’re in Victoria, James will visit your school in person on Wednesday April the 2nd, 2025 and he’ll be accompanied by our StoryBox Hub film crew, who’ll give your kids an extra-special treat by filming James reading his brand-new picture book, Happy Barry, Capabara. If you’re elsewhere in Australia, he’ll run a session for your school via video chat at a mutually agreed time in 2025.
