How often do you read books? Every day, a few times a week, or rarely?
Do you have a favourite place to read? Why do you like to read there?
If you could have ANY reading space your imagination could invent – what would it look like? What would it have in it?
POST VIDEO:
Ben and Kirli talked about some of the places they liked to read when they were kids. Do you remember what some of those places were?
Ben talked about how a dedicated reading space allows us to take ‘time out’ from the world.
Why did Ben say that taking ‘time out’ was important?
What benefits did he say a reading space of our own would give us?
Why do YOU think a dedicated reading space could be useful?
Kirli mentioned that if we find a place we can keep coming back to, it becomes a ritual, and our brains make positive connections with that place and activity.
What do you think she means by this?
Why would making a positive connection between a place and an activity like reading be beneficial?
Ben and Kirli gave us some advice for making a reading space of our own.
Do you remember what Ben told us?
What did Kirli tell us to do?
Ben also told us that the next time we are reading, we should think about what works for us and what makes us most comfortable. Think about where and how you like to read. What is the best place for YOU?
They both shared some of the things that might make a reading space more comfortable and personal for us. Can you list some of the things they mentioned?
