Jo Cameron

Social Worker and Cultural Educator

Jo Cameron is a Pairrebeenne/Trawlwoolway woman from Tasmania (Trouwerner- in north east language) and is the daughter of Aunty Patsy Cameron. Through her maternal line, Jo can trace her heritage to four Ancestral grandmothers- Pleenpereener, Wyerlooberer, Teekoolterme and Pollerelbrener.

Jo was raised on Flinders Island within a large Aboriginal community and was fortunate to observe and be guided by many vibrant and influential Aunties during her childhood.

Jo is a Social Worker who has worked for over 30 years in youth mental health and education settings. Jo also works as a cultural educator, working alongside an Aboriginal community organisation in Tasmania to deliver cultural awareness and sensitivity training to individuals, groups and businesses.

With a knowledgeable and gifted writer as her mother, Jo hopes to one day follow in Aunty Patsy’s footsteps and write, alongside her sister.
