Get Ready for the Big Summer Read 2025/26!

Get ready for an exciting summer of reading! The Big Summer Read kicks off on December 1st.
Join in the fun through Public Libraries Victoria and StoryBox, with a whole month of reading, storytelling, and earning badges!

We are SO excited to let you know that Tony Armstrong will be reading his very own George the Wizard, illustrated by Emma Sjaan Beukers, as part of the Big Summer Read!

In fact, when you view Tony's story via StoryBox Hub (after1st December), you'll earn an EXTRA badge by watching the story.

The challenge is open to all kids aged 0-18, and runs until January 31st. It’s the perfect way to keep their reading skills sharp and help avoid the dreaded summer slide!

Have you heard of the Summer slide? (No, it's not a water park ride!) The summer slide is when all the reading skills built up over the year start slipping away during the holidays. Almost half of kids lose some reading superpowers over summer. So don't delay and get your kids' involved now!

How to Join:

• Register through your local library or via the Big Summer Read website here
• Start reading (and watching) from December 1st
• Earn badges and prizes along the way!

The Big Summer Read is available through participating libraries in VIC / QLD / NSW / SA / TAS. If you live outside of these states, talk to your local library about what summer reading programs may be offered in your community.
