Why is the audio too low when we play StoryBox Hub videos on our interactive whiteboard?

If you find that the audio levels are too low, soft or quiet when you play StoryBox Hub videos via an interactive whiteboard, here are some troubleshooting tips to try:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for the whiteboard - if so, try testing again after updating the firmware.
  • Try playing one of the problematic videos from a different browser (eg Chrome, Firefox, Edge) to the whiteboard. If the volume works better from a different browser, the audio routing from the original browser could be the problem.
  • Are you outputting to the whiteboard by HDMI cable? If so, you could try:
    • Connecting the cable to a different HDMI port on the IWB.
    • And/or using a different HDMI cable (apparently some cables don’t support proper audio passthrough).
  • Some IWBs have audio processing/enhancement features that may not handle certain audio formats correctly:
    • Check the whiteboard’s audio settings menu for options like Surround Sound, Virtual Sound, Noise Reduction, EQ Enhancements, or Auto Volume Leveling, and try disabling them.
    • If there’s an "Audio Mode" setting, try changing it to Standard, Stereo or PCM instead of Surround or Dolby.
    • If there's an "HDMI Audio" setting, try setting it to PCM instead of Bitstream/Dolby.
  • If the computer you're playing from is running Windows, try checking the operating system's sound settings for any whiteboard properties for any other formats to try (possibly under an Advanced tab), such as 44.1 kHz.
