SSO for South Australian public schools (EdPass)

If you are a South Australian public school with an active School subscription, Single Sign-On (SSO) is available for your account.

Benefits of SSO

  • Staff and students can log in with their usual school username and password - they won't need to remember an additional login for StoryBox Hub.
  • Account Holders will get access to additional statistics.
  • Users that log in via SSO will have control of their own personal playlists.
  • Users that log in via SSO will have control of their own preferences for whether captions appear on by default and whether playlists loop by default.
  • We can provide a direct link to your organisation's StoryBox Hub SSO login page.

Steps to enable SSO

  1. Please submit an EdPass Application Request Form for StoryBox Hub.
  2. When the Department for Education has signed off on the risk assessment, contact our support team so that we can enable SSO for your account.

Notes

  • If you belong to multiple South Australian schools using EdPass and log into StoryBox via SSO for more than one, a separate account will be created for each school. Each account will have its own playlists and preferences. To keep everything in one place, we recommend consistently logging in with the same school.
  • SSO is not currently available in our iOS or Android apps but this will be addressed in a future update.
  • Viewer username and password can be used as a workaround to access your organisation's subscription via our iOS and Android apps in the meantime.
  • Viewer username and password combinations will continue to work for schools that have enabled SSO, but in the future when more account individuality is introduced this may be discontinued. Note that if a person logs in with your Viewer username and password they won't have access to any playlists they may have created when logged in via SSO.
  • If your school has a Premium subscription uses our LTI integration for StoryBox access via your Learning Management System, it is recommended that you conduct all access through your LMS rather than using the SSO login page. This is because both LTI and SSO create staff/student accounts under your main account, but our system currently can't sync an LTI-generated sub account with an SSO-generated sub account. This means if you have both set up and a student accesses StoryBox Hub via your LMS integration, and then later by SSO, they will end up with two separate accounts which could cause some confusion.
