CBCA Book Week is one of our favourite times of the year here at the Hub. We love sharing the excitement of the shortlist and winners announcements, and celebrating our incredible local authors and illustrators. Australia really does create some of the best kids’ books in the world, and Book Week is our chance to collectively acknowledge (and send a big cheer!) to our wonderful children’s literature community.

As always, we have a range of expertly-designed resources to help kids of all ages explore the shortlisted stories in more depth, and to discover new books to love. We’re all about making the experience of Book Week easy, fun and engaging for you and your kids.  

Here's what's on offer in 2025:

Choose a Story Response: Lower Primary version & Middle-Upper Primary version.
Select a shortlisted story to read-along with, choose an activity type, then roll a dice and find the corresponding task to complete using the templates available. Includes book response tasks, creative writing prompts, and language and literary activities.

Story Hunt: Watch and read-along with the stories, answer the questions and solve the mystery message! Suitable for middle & upper primary students, and young library patrons. Click on the image below to download. 

Draw & Find Story Fun: Explore the Early Childhood shortlisted titles with this fun activity. Includes 'Can you find...' and drawing prompts related to each story. Suitable for younger children with the support of an adult or older child. Click on the image below to download.

Make Your Own Reading Space: A special CBCA Book Week edition of one of our Story Tools Lessons. Includes a booklet of activities and templates for students to design their own reading space and explore their school/class library to find books.
