We know that educators and librarians who have trialled StoryBox Hub with their kids have quickly discovered how valuable our platform can be. We can never get enough of your beautiful reviews and glowing feedback on how our stories have transformed your learning spaces – our team just loves receiving your love!

We’ve worked hard over the years to make sure that StoryBox Hub remains an affordable, accessible resource, with most school subscriptions still costing approximately one to two dollars per student, per year. But we also know that times are tough, and that school budgets can be difficult to wrangle.

Educators often seek our advice on how to best support requests for StoryBox Hub to be included in their school budgets. We’ve put together some resources here to help you advocate for StoryBox in your communities – but if budgets are tight, our top piece of advice is to consider some of these literacy-themed fundraising efforts.

Enjoy the fundraiser and get everyone in your school excited about stories!

1. Free dress day

A popular, easy fundraiser to organise. Consider asking each child to bring a gold coin donation, and tie the event to literacy and reading by asking children to dress as their favourite book character.

2. Book swap or pre-loved book sale

Invite the children in your community to bring a gold coin and a pre-loved book to take part in a student Book Swap. Arrange the donated books in a classroom or communal space, then allow children to enter and select a book with a gold coin donation.

Alternatively, ask each child in the school to donate a pre-loved book from their own collection. Set prices for each donated book and use them to host a book sale or auction for the school and/or wider community.

3. Story marathon

Sign up for a StoryBox Hub trial subscription and use it to host a marathon of our segments in the library. Run your story marathon during a lunch session or over a series of lunch times, and invite children to attend for a gold coin donation.

If your trial subscription has already expired, hold a book marathon instead! Set a period of time, whether it be one hour or two weeks, in which you encourage your students to read as many books as possible in that time frame. Invite your students to ask relatives and friends to sponsor their reading efforts.

4. Book scavenger hunt or book-themed quiz

Organise a book scavenger hunt or book-themed quiz for your students. Organise a desirable prize or prizes and set a participation fee of one or two dollars.

We’re committed to making sure that all children everywhere have access to the widest range of books and reading possible. And with hundreds of high-quality Australian stories read aloud by an all-star cast of storytellers, our ever-growing library celebrates a wide range of cultures, identities and experiences – including First Nations voices, Auslan-interpreted content and more. Aligned to the Australian Curriculum, StoryBox is the go-to literacy tool – ready to use anytime, anywhere. One library. Endless stories.
